Church of St. Nicholas in Naro-Fominsk was built in 1852 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Victory in the War of 1812.

Earlier, in the seventeenth century, in the village of Fominsk was a wooden St. Nicholas Church, which burned the French in 1812 during the retreat. In 1845 it was decided to build a stone church near the place where the temple once stood.

In 1900, the church began to throw out a chapel St. George the Victorious. However, it failed to finish - prevented the events of 1917. In February 1930 the church of St. Nicholas was closed. Church suffered greatly during the war, was looted and then used as a warehouse. In 1973 the church building was restored and given over to Naro-Famіnskі Historical Museum.

Only in 1988 it was decided to open a church again.
