      Tikhvin Church in the village Novopasskoe Smolensk region was built in 1786. The church had two chapels - one of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the second - in the name of Our Lady of Tikhvin.

      During the War of 1812 priest John Stabrovskaya with the peasants defended the church from ruin French marauders. After the revolution of 1917 Church of the Transfiguration was not closed, but gradually fell into disrepair, and 60s was closed.

      In 1990 he was transferred to the Diocese of Smolensk and restored. 9 July 1999, the feast day of Our Lady of Tikhvin was rediscovered and consecrated by Metropolitan Kirill.

      Today it is a small, sleek building. The outer walls of the church are white and the dome and roof extensions - blue. One of the ornaments of the church and the dominant architectural element is the chapel.
